Do You Remember the Alma Mater in case you are asked to sing a Solo???

The Alma Mater
When all Mountain Lakers gather
It is never very long
‘Till we praise our Alma Mater
With a Song
As we join our hearts together
Raise our voices clear and true
In allegiance to the Orange
And the Blue!

CHORUS
Sing! Sing! The Mountain Lakers’ song
To thee our loyal hearts belong
For no matter where we wander
Or wherever we may roam
We will always think of Mountain Lakes
As Home

Where the Echoes from the hillsides
Ring around the Wildwood shore
Dwell a host of Friends we’ll
Cherish evermore
‘Though our paths may some day sever
We’ll recall the happy throng
That was bound as one together
In a song.

Comments made in the year 1955!

(That's only 53 years ago!)

'I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's groceries for $20.00.

'Have you seen the new cars coming out next year?
It won't be long before $2,000.00 will only buy a used one.

'If cigarettes keep going up in price,
I'm going to quit. A quarter a pack is ridiculou s.

'Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter

'If they raise the minimum wage to $1.00,
nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store. '

'When I first started driving, who would have thought gas would someday cost 29 cents a gallon.
Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage.

'I'm afraid20to send my kids to the movies any more.
Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying DAMN in GONE WITH THE WIND, it seems every new movie has either HELL or DAMN in it.

'I read the other day where some scientist thinks it's possible to put a man on the moon by the end of the century.
=0 A
They even have some fellows they call astronauts preparing for it down in  Texas.

'Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for $75,000 a year just to play ball?
It wouldn't surprise me if someday they'll be making more than the President.

'I never thought I'd see the day all our kitchen appliances would be electric.
They are even making electric typewriters now.

'It's too bad things are so tough nowadays.
I see where a few married women are having to work to make ends m eet.

'It won't be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone
to watch their kids so they can both work.

'I'm afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business.

'Thank goodness I won't live to see the day when the Government takes half our income in taxes.
I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best people to congress.

'The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather,
but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on.

'There is no sense going anywhere for a weekend anymore,
it costs nearly $15.00 a night to stay in a hotel.

'No one can afford to be sick anymore,
at $35.00 a day in the hospital it's too rich for my blood.'

'If they think I'll pay 50 cents for a hair cut, forget it.'

From Chris:
With my marriage to Debbie, I have inherited three girls. I want to say how grateful I am to be invited to your reunion even though I graduated from Darien High School in Connecticut. Honestly, I feel I still have more friends, closer, goofier, in Mt Lakes group from the four years of 5-8th grades than I do in the four years of high school in Darien. I live now on Candlewood Lake in Connecticut and have for some thirty years. The views are great and the golf and fishing are excellent and as long as I keep the whip to my wife to keep her working I will be able to enjoy my passions of painting in oils, acrylics and pastels and writing the great American Erotic novel.

I'm so looking forward to finding out what all of you have been doing.  The profiles form an great snapshot.  A few of you are near enough that we could see each other on the street (or at the SF Ballet) and not know it.

I love crossing the country via RV. We have done this 6 times, I also love to sew and quilt and knit. I used to have a garden that fed us all year round in Maine. We had Goats, Chickens, and Turkeys, besides growing all our food. we were active in the Maine Organic Farm & Garden association. I help out teaching some sewing here in Sarasota at Sun N Fun RV Resort, where we have been spending winters. Raising Springer Spaniels.
